Rome Consensus 2.0

A partnership for good

According to an article published by the Rome Consensus on March 30, 2020, “during the 63rd session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, the Manifesto ‘Rome Consensus 2.0 - Towards Humanitarian Drug Policy’ was launched during a side event organized by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Partnership on Substance Abuse, together with the C4 Recovery, the Levenson and Villa Maraini Foundations, and the Police, Treatment, and Community Collaborative organization (PTACC).” KOPI believes in a humanitarian approach to drug policy and supports efforts aimed at saving lives and alleviating suffering. Two objectives highlighted on the Rome Consensus 2.0 website.

We were lucky to be included in this group’s most recent conversation and KOPI is in the process of determining how we can help push this initiative forward. Press coverage from an event that Dr. Nathan Koranda, KOPI Executive Director, participated in during his time in Rome can be found below. The aim of this conversation was to discuss the emergence of fentanyl in Rome and to reduce harm and expand access to treatment.
